DOWN TO EARTH
Joy and Aiden cooed with delight, along with the rest of the crowd, as the sky lit up like colourful sprinkles on a doughnut. Well, that was the closest comparison Aiden could think of. A second later multiple claps from each explosion reached them and the music’s tempo increased as the display powered towards its conclusion.

“Best bonfire night ever!” Aiden declared, ignoring the wisps of his breath in the chill evening. He stomped his feet for warmth, determined the cold wouldn’t dampen his enthusiasm.
Joy nodded in agreement, but said nothing as her eyes darted between the dying sparkles. She was drawn toward one red-tailed comet as it dropped to earth. This particular firework seemed not to want to burn away like the others. If anything it grew brighter. “Have you seen that?” she asked, nudging Aiden with her elbow.  “It’s brilliant!”
Joy didn’t want to take her eyes from the object so had no idea if Aiden was referring to it, or the display. Just beneath the music and cacophony of bangs, she became aware of muttering around her.  “What the heck is that?” a man to her left asked. More voices joined in as the fireball became as big as a fist and growing larger by the second.
“Wow! Look!” shouted Aiden, shaking Joy’s shoulder and finally pointing at the fireball that now had a long flowing tail of burning plasma. “It’s just changed course! It’s heading right this way!”

‘’RUN!’’ screamed a man positioned to the right of the mesmerised Joy and Aiden. The fire ball was coming closer and growing bigger and bigger by the second; the red tailed comet swirling and skidding along the, once dark, now illuminated night sky: spitting fire! Suddenly, reality hit Aiden ‘’we have to move!’’ Joy heard him but did nothing, for her legs were fixed to the ground with fear and fright. She heard the ear piecing and petrified screaming of the people around her. Someone grabbed her by the shoulder and vigorously tried to yank her out of the way. But devastatingly it was too late. The life threatening fire ball hit the ground with an almighty, thunderous crash taking Joy with it. The horrific comet issued a gigantic cloud of smoke! Joy was nowhere to be seen. Aiden had run into the distance fearing for his life completely forgetting about her. Soon news came out about the missing girl. Hours later Joy’s parents came to the site to search for her but there was not a living thing for miles to see. Were had she gone? Had she died? Or was she alive? It was a question that they thought they would never find out…

Hours later, the bellowing cloud of smoke cleared revealing the crash site in plain view of anyone passing by. It was then that they found the first hint to Joy’s mysterious disappearance.

“It’s her shoe,” Aiden picked up the burnt leather boot, “how did her boot get here, the crash was over there?” Aiden pointed to roughly where the fatal crash had occurred. Joy’s parents inspected the boot and concluded that Joy must be in that direction. They all agreed to search the close vicinity for any more clues before they trekked in the boot’s direction. A thought crossed all their minds, “If her boot is here then footprints must be near.” They all started a frantic search for any sign of footprints…

Suddenly, a stroke of lightning thumped down onto the ground. “We have to get inside, we can search in the morning.” Joy’s mother picked up the boot and stumbled towards the old hut where they had been taking cover during the explosion

“But we can’t leave her,” Aiden stood firm, “she needs us!” It seemed like Aiden was the only one who had any hope left, but deep down Joy’s parents knew Aiden was right. Aiden explained that no matter what, he wouldn’t rest until they had found her. Her parents agreed and suddenly they were all back to their frenzied mission to save Joy. They all started to trek in the direction of her boot but little did they know, the boot was all a trick to lead them to something a lot more sinister…

They trekked across the desolate and barren wasteland in search of the missing girl. Mounds upon mounds of dust and debris shadowed the grass and plant life of the once magical and fun-filled attraction that acted as a magnet for young children. Minute after minute, the pressure of the tense atmosphere began to crush the remaining hopes and dreams of Aiden finding his soulmate, Joy.

A petite, golden, crisp leaf danced from the dusk above, landing in front of Aiden’s leather boots: where had it come from? Looking around, emptiness engulfed Aiden as there were no trees beyond him. A single, frozen statue of bark stood lifeless in the distance, staring Aiden in the eyes. Even though it was a chilled Autumns night, there was no possibility that the wind could have swept the single leaf across the endless path.

The spotlight in the sky shone a single beam down on the leaf as it swiftly walked across the path, to a bright pink object. As they drew nearer, they picked up the mitten that once belonged to Joy...Was this the clue they needed to activate their journey?

Still searching, not knowing what to do, confused Aidan was searching but couldn't find anything. He was worried and didn't know what to do. He was thinking but not hard enough. He felt upset but angry, he didn't know what to do. The story of Joy was all over the news. Her parents were still searching after midnight. It was about 2am, and they were searching the bushes and woods nearby the site of the crash, and found one more clue: there was her purse she was supposed to use for getting something to eat before the fireworks started.

The boot, the miten, and now her purse - was this a trail that would finally lead him to Joy?

Aiden was curious of what happened to his girlfriend . Could she have been kidnapped ?Or ran away ? Or even worse than that .....
He and his parents were still looking for Joy and not losing hope when they found some more evidence .A shirt. A small, red and white shirt - but... was it hers ? Joys shirt was white .He picked it up to inspect it ,when he made a disgusting, horrifying discovery .The shirt that he was holding in his hands was blood stained and was soaked to the skin .All of a sudden a deadly flash came from behind ,it was a mysterious shadow of a person that he recognized. Suddenly, it started sprinting away from his sight . As they chased after the shadow ,they came to a stop .As in sight an overgrown bush held the body of the poor girl named Joy .She was marked head to toe in small cuts .Was this really her? But who, or what, killed her in this terribly gruesome way ?.....
